Dr Variawa has worked as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist in private practice for eight years. Since qualifying as a medical doctor in 2006, he has trained in anaesthesia in Sabie as well as various hospitals around Johannesburg giving a total of thirteen years anaesthetic experience currently. He spent two years as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic hospital before entering full time private practice in 2016.

Dr Variawa is currently registered with the HPCSA as well as the GMC (UK). He is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour society.
