Dr Desai attained his undergraduate medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in 2014. He completed his medical internship at Chris Hani Baragwaneth Academic Hospital thereafter. His career in anaesthesia commenced during his community service year at Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex in 2017 during which he obtained his Diploma in Anaesthesia. This was followed in 2018 as a Medical Officer at Helen Joseph Hospital. Dr Desai then assumed a Registrar position at Wits, Department of Anaesthesiology and went on to qualify as a specialist anaesthesiologist in 2022.
